In the late 20s, many large companies were going bankrupt, and only those that produced low-budget products could stay afloat. Borgward was one of them. Production was expanding, and new models were appearing in the lineup. The business went so far that in the 30s, this was one of the largest automakers in Germany, producing modern cars of various classes.

Post-war period

During World War II, the company was forced to retrain production for the needs of the army, producing trucks, anti-aircraft guns, and tracked vehicles. After the end of the war, only a quarter of the production facilities remained. Everything else was in ruins. But even this did not stop Carl, who was distinguished by his commercial flair. He, having registered three trademarks, was able to receive three times more quota raw materials, providing his productions with everything necessary. As a result, the Borgward Hansa 1500 model was born - a sedan that outpaced its time not only in terms of "stuffing" but also in appearance. The following years are connected with the expansion of not only the model range and production.

Forced bankruptcy

Just one article in the "Spiegel" magazine shook the company's solid position. It said that the enterprise was in poor condition, with low incomes, crowded warehouses, etc. And all this against the backdrop of the bank's refusal to give Carl a large loan, forcing him to hand over the management to the city council. The latter, without hesitation, put the company into bankruptcy. Thus, competitors eliminated a competitor, literally in 1 year.

Revival

Not so long ago, in 2015, Borgward's grandson, using the capital of the Chinese manufacturer Foton, revived the legendary brand.
