Winter tires and fines
We often write about the fact that tires are the most important safety element, as they provide traction and vehicle handling. Tires must match not only the season but also the weather conditions, which can change within a season.
Not all car owners are conscientious about choosing tires, and it seems that the law should motivate irresponsible behavior with fines. After all, we are talking not about private but about public safety. There are other road users, pedestrians, children. The car must be well manageable.
Surprisingly, the law is extremely sparse in the matter of tire operation. Relatively recently, so-called "summer" and "winter" months have appeared. The "summer" months are considered June, July, and August. During these months, the operation of studded tires is prohibited, while all-season and winter non-studded tires are not prohibited from operation. The "winter" months are considered December, January, and February. During these months, the operation of summer tires is prohibited.
What is the size of the fine?
According to Article 12.5 (part 1) of the Code of Administrative Offenses, the fine is only 500 rubles, and many may think that such a fine is not worth fearing and can be "saved".
There is one important nuance here that many people do not take into account. A car is a means of transportation that can cause serious bodily harm or even death. We will omit the logical conclusion that the risks of getting into a serious accident on unsuitable tires increase sharply. Rather, attention should be paid to the fact that in the event of an accident with a disputed situation of guilt, the one who was driving on tires not matching the season can be held guilty. And here, the responsibility can be very high.
