Wanli Passenger Tire Plant will become the largest in the world
Company Wanli Tire has completed another stage of expanding its plant in Guangzhou (Guangdong Province). The company's capacity has been increased from 24 to 30 million tires per year, making it one of the largest passenger tire manufacturing plants in China.
By June next year, production is planned to be increased to 36 million tires, and then, as noted by Chinese media, the Wanli plant will become the largest passenger tire manufacturing plant in the world. For comparison, the largest tire plant in Russia is Ikon Tyres, which can produce up to 17 million tires per year.
The completed expansion stage covered all stages of production, from rubber mixing to storage of finished products. The project was implemented in nine months, the area of the workshops was increased by a total of 120,000 m2, and the investment volume was 1.086 billion yuan (150 million dollars).
It is reported that special attention was paid to increasing the automation and digitalization of production, and if earlier manual transportation was used at the plant, now automated guided vehicles (AGV) are used. In addition, each tire is equipped with a unique QR code, which is its "identification card". Scanning the code allows you to learn about all stages of tire production, including the raw materials used. The introduction of new intelligent technologies has also led to the fact that, for example, in the vulcanization workshop, one operator previously controlled four units of equipment, and now - "at least twenty".
In the domestic Chinese market, Wanli offers tires under its two main brands: Wanli and Diamond, and the company notes that in the future, it intends to expand its presence both in the PRC and abroad, which will be facilitated by the construction of a new plant in Cambodia, which should begin in the coming weeks.
Now, a large tire plant in China is also being built by Gubersail Tire. The project capacity of the enterprise in Jiangsu is 30 million passenger and 3.5 million truck tires per year, and the production launch is planned for mid-January.
