Yongsheng started building a factory in Morocco
Chinese Shandong Yongsheng Rubber Group has started building its first overseas factory, which will be located in the free economic zone "Betoia" near the Mediterranean port of Nador in the Moroccan province of Driush. Yongsheng has become the second Chinese company to decide to localize tire production in Morocco, and last year, Sentury launched a plant in the country, and not so long ago, Guizhou Tyre announced similar plans.
The Yongsheng project will invest $675 million, and in the first phase, the factory's capacity will be 6 million passenger and light truck tires, and within three years, production volumes are planned to be doubled. Morocco was chosen because the country is an important transportation hub connecting three markets: Europe, Africa, and America.
Last year, Yongsheng also signed a preliminary investment agreement regarding participation in a project to build a plant with a capacity of 17 million tires per year in Saudi Arabia.
With the help of new investments, it is planned to create a production network covering Asia, Africa, and the Middle East, and Yongsheng says that the company has become one of the industry leaders in terms of planned capital investments.
To ensure the effective implementation of foreign projects, Yongsheng has started preparing personnel in advance and is now hiring translators with knowledge of Arabic, who will undergo six-month training at the company's plant in China and will later participate in "coordinating international interaction".
Yongsheng was founded in 1986 and is based in the city of Dongying, Shandong Province, and its capacity is 20 million passenger and 6 million truck tires per year, which are produced under such brands as Everforce, Doupro, Toprunner, Yonshine, Hemisphere, Rotalla and Roadking. The company has registered more than 20 patents and implements products on the markets of China, Europe, North and South America, Africa, the Middle East, etc.
