Yokohama supplies tires for the new Nissan Leaf
Yokohama began supplying tires for the factory equipment of the third-generation Nissan Leaf electric car, which has transformed from a hatchback to a compact crossover and will enter the American market this year.
The new Leaf is equipped with Yokohama AVID GT tires in size 215/55 R18, which are made using technologies applied in the creation of models from the BluEarth family and are characterized by reduced rolling resistance, increasing the range of the electric vehicle. Additionally, wear resistance has been improved, and optimized profile and internal structure have allowed for improved stability, while also reducing tire weight. The tread pattern with a variable step has been refined using artificial intelligence to improve acoustic comfort.

Yokohama is currently actively cooperating with electric vehicle manufacturers in the primary equipment segment, and the company says that the data obtained through partnerships with automakers are later used to improve the operational characteristics of tires intended for the secondary market.
