Yokohama supplies tires for the Isuzu ERGA EV

Tires Yokohama 507U, designed specifically for low-floor buses, were included in the original equipment of the new battery-electric bus Isuzu ERGA EV, introduced to the Japanese market in May 2024. 

For ERGA EV, tires will be supplied in the size 275/70 R22.5, equipped with the new E+ marking, which indicates that they have been adapted for use on electric vehicles, and earlier, the company also reported on the start of tire supplies for the new electric bus Bridgestone.

The Yokohama 507U tire, as stated by the manufacturer, is well-suited for use on electric buses and has increased strength and wear resistance, which is important due to possible contacts with curbs, as well as improved suitability for tread restoration. Additionally, considering the characteristics of heavy and quiet electric buses, the developers also increased the tires' resistance to high loads and reduced noise, while the reduced rolling resistance extends the range between charges.

ERGA EV became the first fully electric bus with a flat floor from Isuzu, which, according to the company, provides the same convenience for boarding and disembarking passengers as conventional diesel buses, but the electric powertrain also allowed for a flat floor in the rear of the cabin.

In Yokohama, they say that as part of their medium-term development strategy Yokohama Transformation 2026 (YX2026), they aim to continue strengthening their position in the market, including through the equipment of vehicles that require high-tech tires.
