Yokohama Rubber has announced that its US subsidiary, Yokohama Tire Corporation (YTC), will supply control tires for the new Mustang Cup racing series sanctioned by the US Auto Club (USAC). The races will be held starting from April 2025, and all participants will use Yokohama ADVAN A005 slicks or Yokohama ADVAN A006 rain tires.

The Mustang Cup will feature amateur and novice drivers, with Ford Performance, the sports division of Ford, as the organizer. Pilots who improve their skills will be able to participate in higher-level championships, such as the Mustang Challenge, and the new series will use the racing Mustang Dark Horse R, developed by Ford Performance. The season will consist of six races, held in six states, with the first stage taking place in Louisiana.

In 2025, Yokohama will also provide tires for the Ford Mustang GT3 of the German team Haupt Racing Team in the 24-hour endurance race at the Nurburgring, one of the most challenging endurance races in the world, as part of its partnership with Ford Performance. This year, Yokohama and Ford Performance will collaborate for the first time in the "24 Hours of Nurburgring" since 2012, and the American automaker's racing division will participate in the race for the first time since 2019.

According to Yokohama, supporting the Mustang Cup should help the company increase brand recognition for ADVAN in the North American market. In the region, the Japanese manufacturer also supplies tires for several other championships, including the Porsche Carrera Cup North America, considered one of the fastest monoseries in the world.

"Yokohama Rubber considers participation in motorsports to be crucial for further strengthening the ADVAN and Geolandar brands, and therefore participates in various competitions around the world, from the highest to the entry level," the company added.
