Wanli officially opened a plant in Cambodia

On January 12, 2025, exactly 12 months after the start of construction, in the Cambodian city of Bavet (Svay Rieng province), a new tire plant of the company Wanli Tire, which is part of the Guangzhou Industrial Investment Holdings Group (GIIHG) holding, was officially opened.

The project cost is 2 billion yuan (290 million dollars), and after reaching full capacity, scheduled for the second half of 2026, the plant will be able to produce 12 million passenger tires per year.

Thanks to investments by Wanli and other Chinese companies, the tire industry in Cambodia is now developing rapidly, and, as reported by the local Ministry of Trade, in the first 11 months of 2025, the value of Cambodian tire exports was $1.22 billion, an increase of 58% compared to the same period in 2024.

According to Wanli, the project in Cambodia is being implemented at an accelerated pace, and from the start of construction to the production of the first tire, only 288 days passed, which "is a new industry record". The first tire was produced in October 2025, and in mid-December, the plant began shipping products to Europe, which, as Wanli says, meets the company's goals for "supplying safe, environmentally friendly, and high-quality Chinese brand tires to the world".

The plant's opening ceremony was attended by the Deputy Prime Minister of Cambodia and First Vice-Chairman of the Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC) Sun Chanthol, who thanked Wanli for locating production and added that the plant will create new jobs, as well as become a major consumer of natural rubber, which should help improve the living conditions of local farmers.
