New Barum tires released for northern winter

The Barum brand (owned by Continental) has added a new non-studded tire, the Barum Polaris North 6 of the Scandinavian type, which, according to the manufacturer, is not only effective on snow and ice but also has improved properties on wet roads.

In the segment of "Scandinavian" tires, directed tread patterns are the most common, but the new Barum tires have an asymmetric design (the same as the Viking WinTech WT6 tires), which, in combination with a specialized "Nordic" compound, is designed to provide a high level of traction and safety in various conditions of the northern winter.

It is noted that the tires are able to improve braking efficiency and handling on snowy surfaces, while the optimized contact patch has improved driving qualities on ice. In addition, the tread pattern has been modified for rapid water evacuation, which reduces the length of braking distances on wet surfaces.

The sidewalls feature both M+S and 3PMSF (three-peak mountain snowflake) markings, as well as the Ice Grip symbol, which helps identify a tire suitable for use in a northern climate. Additionally, there is an EV✓ marking, indicating that the tires are adapted for use on both gasoline-powered vehicles and electric and hybrid cars.

The Barum Polaris North 6 will be produced in sizes with a rim diameter of 15-21 inches, a profile width of 185-275 mm, and speed indices Q and T. According to the European labeling system, the tire received ratings of "B-D" for fuel efficiency, "D-E" for wet grip, and "B" for noise level.
