Second Continental exit from the agricultural tire sector since 2000
For the second time in two decades, Continental is exiting the agricultural tire business. Initially, Continental's management sold the agricultural tire business of the well-known German tire manufacturer to the Czech company CGS in 2004. (Subsequently, CGS acquired the Mitas brand, and in 2016, this division was sold to Trelleborg Wheel Systems. The merged Mitas/Trelleborg Wheel Systems company officially became part of Yokohama in May 2023).
For 13 years after the sale of agricultural tires by Continental in 2004, Continental agricultural tires were produced under license by Mitas until 2017. In 2016, Continental announced its decision to re-enter the agricultural tire market.
