Spring and roads

We all eagerly await the end of winter and the arrival of spring. With the onset of positive temperatures and sunshine, the snow and ice on the roads begin to melt. However, March is a treacherous month, as if it's warm during the day, there can be strong frosts at night. Such frequent transitions through zero have a very detrimental effect on the roads. Cracks begin to form, potholes and bumps appear. This time is extremely dangerous for tires. Motorists need to be very careful when driving. During the day, when the pothole is filled with water, it's very difficult to assess its size and depth. And in the dark, it's even more challenging to notice potholes on unlit roads.

Getting into such a pothole can lead to the need to replace the tire. What happens when a wheel hits a pothole? When a sudden load is applied to the sidewall, it is compressed, and the rupture of the carcass threads can occur in one or two places at once. The rupture usually occurs in the bead and shoulder area. The ruptures can be through or not. In the case of a through rupture, the tire will immediately deflate. And in the case of a non-through rupture, a bulge forms. This means that at this point, the air is held only by the rubber layer. Driving on such a tire is dangerous. The bead and shoulder area are non-repairable, and in case of damage, you will have to buy a new tire.

To minimize the likelihood of damage, regularly check the tire pressure, it should be within the values recommended by the vehicle manufacturer. At night or on unfamiliar roads, be careful when moving and try to slow down before puddles and avoid large potholes.
