In Japan, sales of new Pirelli summer tires have started
The Japanese trade and service network Autobacs Seven has announced the start of sales of the new summer tire Pirelli Cinturato P9 AS, which replaces the Pirelli P8 SUV model, presented in 2019 and also launched by the Italian company exclusively for its Japanese client.
The tread pattern of the Cinturato P9 AS was borrowed from the all-season Pirelli Scorpion AS Plus 3, released on the North American market in 2021, but Autobacs emphasizes that despite the AS designation in the name, the novelty is a summer tire.

Compared to the P8 SUV, the volume of water drainage grooves has been increased, which has improved the efficiency of water drainage, and it is also reported that as the tread wears out, the pattern changes practically not at all, and the initial length of the lamellas is preserved, thanks to which the tires provide high grip on wet pavement throughout their lifespan. In addition, handling on dry asphalt has been improved.
The lineup includes 38 sizes from 205/60 R16 to 275/35 R20, with seven of them having a Run-Flat design. In all sizes, the tires have been certified as low-noise according to the standards of the Japanese Automobile Tire Manufacturers Association (JATMA) and have received the corresponding marking. The tires are designed for popular models of passenger cars and crossovers of both local and foreign brands in the country.
Autobacs was founded in 1974 and currently offers a wide range of products such as tires, batteries, windshield wipers, etc., as well as car maintenance services.
