The Center for Research and Development of Functional Materials, established at the Advanced Engineering Oil School of the Higher School of Oil (HSO), will be engaged in the practical application of new materials for industry, according to the HSO press service.

It is noted that, in particular, hybrid cords from high-modulus fibers will be developed, which are planned to be used in the production of tires.

"Such tires are strong, lightweight, and wear-resistant," said Yulia Timoshina, head of the Center. "They have an extended service life, can improve road safety, and reduce fuel consumption."

In the industry, a "hybrid" tire cord is one that is made from two or more materials, which improves the operational characteristics of the tires.

"The creation of new functional materials has great potential for their application in the oil and gas and chemical industries. Due to their unique structure and properties, they significantly improve production processes and enhance the quality of the final product," said Alexander Dyakonov, Rector of HSO.

HSO is located in Almetyevsk (Tatarstan).
