In Turkey, a new tire brand is being launched

Turkish construction company Mesa Holding is preparing to enter the tire market with its own brand, Mesalas, whose products will be manufactured at a plant in Emirdag (Afyonkarahisar Province) in the west of the country.

To operate in the tire sector, Mesalas Lastik Sanayi A.Ş. was established in 2023, and the 90,000 m2 plant is expected to be launched in the fourth quarter of 2024. The project will involve a total investment of around $300 million.

Entry into the tire market will be carried out in several stages, and initially, the plant will produce tires for forklifts and other special equipment. In the second stage, it is planned to start producing tires for military equipment, such as APCs, UAVs, and F-16s, and in the third stage, production of tires for passenger, commercial, and cargo vehicles, as well as off-road vehicles, should begin. Products will be sold both domestically and in foreign markets.

In May 2024, Emirdag Mayor Serkan Koyuncu visited the plant's construction site, noting that "this project will be a major economic breakthrough not only for the city but also for the entire region. Upon completion of the construction, the plant will produce all types of tires, including aircraft tires, thousands of people will be employed, and a significant contribution will be made to the development of the regional economy. In addition, the enterprise will produce products using the latest technologies and environmentally friendly processes."

In Turkey, tires are produced by companies such as Petlas, Brisa, Goodyear, Sumitomo, Prometeon, and Özka.
