In SIBUR, details about a new brand of rubber were revealed
SIBUR has revealed details about its recently developed brand of functionalized butadiene-styrene rubber DSSK-628V, which was launched at Nizhnekamskneftekhim and is designed for the production of summer and all-season tires.
The new rubber enables the improvement of a number of key tire characteristics, and, for example, grip on a wet surface can be increased by 12%, which increases the level of safety in difficult conditions, while rolling resistance is reduced by 10%, resulting in fuel savings and making tires more environmentally friendly.
In combination with other SIBUR rubbers, such as SKI-970 and SKD ND 1246 BB E-Pro, the new brand, according to the company, allows for the partial or complete replacement of natural rubber in the manufacture of summer and all-season tire treads in the High- and Ultra-High Performance categories.
The new brand was created as part of the import substitution program for synthetic rubbers and has already been approved by several tire companies in Russia and other CIS countries. The goal of the project is not only to improve the consumer properties of automobile tires, and SIBUR also intends to replace imported analogues that were previously supplied from Germany, South Korea, and Japan, since "in the current geopolitical conditions, the creation of a domestic alternative has become a critically important task for the industry".
As Anatoly Svetlikov, Director of the "Transport" division of SIBUR, stated, "over the past decade, the transportation industry has made a huge leap in terms of safety, functionality, and design".
According to him, progress has been made possible, among other things, thanks to the developments of the SIBUR team, and "DSSK-628V is a vivid example of how innovations and advanced technologies help strengthen the positions of domestic industry. This is a product that not only meets all world standards but also provides the tire industry with access to high-quality domestic raw materials and reduces their dependence on foreign suppliers".
In April 2025, Nizhnekamskneftekhim also mastered the production of a new brand of functionalized butadiene-styrene rubber DSSK-615V, and SIBUR successfully conducted tests of non-studded winter tires made using the new raw materials, together with the company Ikon Tyres.
DSSK-615V is characterized by a reduced glass transition temperature and is designed for the production of all-season and winter tires. SIBUR notes that the new material is capable of increasing grip on ice, and also improves such parameters as economy and wear resistance. The DSSK-615V brand was also developed as part of the import substitution program.
