In 2024, Russia produced 34.6 million passenger car tires, with a 13% growth compared to the previous year. The main product in this segment is summer tires, with 14.67 million units manufactured (+21.4% compared to the previous year), followed by winter studded tires (12.83 million units and 8% growth). There were 5.02 million winter non-studded tires produced and 1.37 million all-season tires (with a growth of 2.3 and 11.4%, respectively). Overall, production volumes were the highest since 2022, reports "Kommersant" citing CRPT (operator of the "Honest Sign" labeling system).

In Pirelli, they noted that after a decline in 2022-2023, production is growing, but its volumes are still lower than in 2021, and one of the favorable factors is the growth in sales of new cars.

In "Cordiant", they added that the situation has become more stable compared to 2023, since "after the departure of foreign manufacturers, plants found new owners and almost all were restarted".

Over the year, Russia sold 13.2% more tires for passenger cars. In the summer tire segment, sales volumes were 74.6 billion rubles (with a 32.3% growth), and the market volume of winter studded tires increased by 27.7% to 61 billion rubles. Winter non-studded tires were sold for 31.3 billion rubles, and all-season tires for 5.3 billion rubles (with an increase of 20.2 and 10.5%, respectively).

The import of passenger car tires of all categories increased by 18% to 25.83 million units.

The main share of the passenger tire market is held by summer models (48.69%), followed by winter studded and friction tires (30.89 and 17.19%, respectively), and the share of all-season tires is 2.54%.

The average cost of a passenger car tire in 2024, according to CRPT, was 6.6 thousand rubles, which is 12% more than in the previous year. Winter studded and friction tires became more expensive by 12.2 and 12.6%, to 7.57 and 6.85 thousand rubles, respectively, summer tires by 12.3%, to 5.8 thousand rubles, and all-season tires by 8.4%, to 7.83 thousand rubles.

Manufacturers note that the tire market is influenced by the spread of Chinese cars and the popularity of crossovers. So, in Pirelli, they say that the country has increased sales of tires with a diameter of 18-22 inches, and in "Cordiant" they reported that "if earlier crossovers bestsellers were cars like Hyundai Creta with a rim size of 16-17, then the Chinese cars that replaced them stimulated the growth of the share of 18-19 inches".

Earlier, CRPT summed up the results of the winter season of tire replacement in 2024.
