In Russia, production of resins for the tire industry is increasing

Siberian Lesokhim Plant (part of Orgkhim) — the only Russian manufacturer of terpene-phenolic resins for the tyre industry — has completed the modernization of its raw material preparation unit. A full production cycle has been established, ranging from turpentine preparation to the output of finished resins, with the total project cost amounting to 100 million rubles, according to the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Krasnoyarsk Territory.

The modernization enabled the switch to more accessible raw materials, and the plant has also mastered the production of two new resin grades. By 2027, the plant plans to reach an annual production capacity of 120 tonnes. The main customers are Russian tyre manufacturers, and it is reported that the resins produced enhance tyre grip on the road.

“The project in Lesosibirsk demonstrates how deep raw material processing can expand industrial output,” said Yegor Vasiliev, Chairman of the regional Legislative Assembly's Committee on Economics and Tax Policy. “The enterprise has mastered a new technological stage and organized serial production of components for the tyre industry. This product is included in the federal list of critical industrial goods.”

The project was implemented using a 75 million ruble loan from the Industrial Development Fund.

“Financing was provided under the 'Development Projects' program. The enterprise produces components for import-substituting products,” noted Alexander Chernikov, Minister of Industry and Trade of the region.

The Siberian Lesokhim Plant was established in 2009. Since 2012, the company has specialized in deep processing of turpentine and production of terpene hydrocarbons.
