In Primorye, a new use has been found for metal from old tires

The only tire recycling plant in Primorye intends to extract metal from tire waste to produce grinding media used in the mining industry—components, most often spherical, which are used in mills for grinding hard materials such as ore, cement, ceramics, etc.reportedat the regional administration's press service.

"Their task is to mechanically break down raw materials into the required fraction through impact, abrasion, and crushing," noted company director Sergei Lazarev. "The metal used to make tire cord turned out to be identical in composition to that used by miners. Previously, they purchased grinding media mainly from China and central Russia, but now this product will be produced in Primorye."

The plant operating within the Primorye Territory of Advanced Development is the largest tire recycling facility in the Far East. In 2026, 7,000 tires were recycled, and the resulting raw material is used in the production of soft coverings for sports facilities, and so on.
