Nexen revealed a new strategy
The Nexen Tire company has announced that it is implementing a strategy aimed at offering tires that are equally well-suited for both electric vehicles and internal combustion engine vehicles. This sets Nexen apart from other major Korean tire manufacturers, such as Hankook and Kumho, which have both launched separate lines for electric vehicles. The company emphasizes that it has chosen this strategy in order to continue improving driving performance and providing consumers with high-quality products at reasonable prices.
Given the parameters of electric vehicles, such as increased weight and torque, as well as low noise, they require tires with improved strength, traction, and low noise, but Nexen points out that tires with similar characteristics can also function well on traditional vehicles.
To enhance the performance of its tires, Nexen uses a range of innovative technologies, such as the Virtual Brain Loop based on artificial intelligence, which allows for the design of tires with improved braking, handling, and ride comfort characteristics, as well as durability, while big data technologies are applied to reduce tire noise.
Currently, Nexen supplies the largest number of electric vehicles from Korean brands, providing tires for models such as the Hyundai Ioniq 6 and Kona EV, Kia EV3, EV6, and EV9. In addition, it plans to launch tires with the E-Root designation on the secondary market, confirming that they are suitable for both electric vehicles and vehicles with internal combustion engines. On March 14, Nexen launched a new advertising campaign in Korea, which aims to convey the brand's philosophy to consumers and communicate that "despite changes in the automotive market, the company continues to improve the basic characteristics of tires".
"Our goal is always to meet the needs of our customers, and we will supply tires to the market that are optimized for both electric vehicles and internal combustion engine vehicles, so that customers can always get the best driving experience without worrying about choosing tires," the company emphasized.
