In Georgia, they will start recycling tires

By the end of 2025, Georgia will have its first tire recycling plant, according to "Sputnik Georgia" citing the words of Nika Khodeli, Vice-President of the Georgian Waste Management Association.

Currently, used tires are shipped to Turkey, and Khodeli said the new plant will be launched in about three months. "We are actually at the final stage. For about a year, we have been actively working to create recycling facilities in the country," he noted.

Vano Mtvrlishvili, Executive Director of the Association, added that the raw materials obtained from recycled tires are planned to be exported to Turkey in the initial stage, where they are widely used in industry.

"Actually, all the details have already been agreed upon," he said. "Tires are actually a very problematic waste because their sales market is very problematic, and there was no culture of using them in Georgia. However, I want to say that, for example, neighboring Turkey actively uses raw materials from recycled tires. This is a so-called powder used in the production of rubber."

The location of the new enterprise is still unknown.
