In CRPT, the results of the past tire change season were summed up
Last tire replacement season, i.e., September — November 2024, sales of new all-season and winter tires on the Russian market grew by 19.7% compared to the same period last year and amounted to 67.5 billion rubles, reports "Kommersant" citing data from CRPT (operator of the "Honest Sign" labeling system)
Experts say that the growth in demand for tires is due to the recovery of the automotive market, whose capacity last year became record-breaking since 2019. In Cordiant, they confirmed that the tire market is influenced by demand for new cars, and the editor-in-chief of "Behind the Wheel," Maxim Kadayov, explained that "cars are sold at car dealerships with summer tires, and therefore winter tires were required for all cars purchased last spring, summer, and autumn".
According to CRPT data, the peak sales of tires in the last season were recorded in November (+47% compared to November 2023), and studded tires remain the most popular (53% of sales). The share of friction tires was 36%, and they are in greatest demand in the south of the country, in the Caucasus, and in the Far East. 11% of sales accounted for all-season tires.
The leader of the Russian market in September — November became the Nordman brand (Ikon Tyres) with a share of 19.2% (sales in units of products increased by 13% over the year), the top three also include Cordiant and Kama Tyres with indicators of 10.4 and 5.5%, respectively (Cordiant sales grew by 29%, and Nizhnekamsk tires — decreased by 16.2%). Next come Pirelli (5.1%) and Formula (4.8%), which increased sales by 7.7 and 0.2%, respectively.
Regarding market trends, Cordiant says that due to the popularity of Chinese cars, there is a growing demand for large-diameter tires, and Ikon notes that in 2019-2024, the share of Chinese brands in the passenger tire segment increased from 11 to 37%, as a result of which "risks are created for local players". Maxim Kadayov adds that tires will continue to rise in price in 2025, and the pace of price growth will depend, among other things, on demand.
