In Angola, the first tire plant will be opened

Aço Bom, based in China's Fujian province, has officially announced plans to build a $100 million tire factory in Bengo, Angola, covering an area of 120 hectares.

The project will be implemented in two phases, with the first phase involving an investment of $30 million to build production lines capable of producing 30,000 motorcycle tires and 60,000 inner tubes per day. Production is expected to commence in the first half of 2026, with products mainly targeting the Angolan and neighboring markets.

In the second phase, the facility is expected to start producing 6,000 passenger car tires per day, with production scheduled to begin in 2028. Media outlets note that the new factory will continue the process of localizing components in Angola's automotive industry and reduce dependence on imported tires.

Once the project reaches full capacity, it is expected to create over 800 direct jobs and contribute to the development of related industries. Plans are also in place to launch technical training programs, ultimately aiming for more than 95% of the workforce to be comprised of local employees. The investor also intends to collaborate with Angolan universities to jointly establish a training center for engineers in the rubber industry.

According to available data, Angola currently lacks its own tire production but has factories for tire retreading and recycling.

Chinese tire companies have recently focused on Africa, with announcements of plans to build new factories in Kenya, Tanzania, and Morocco.
