In Algeria, a new tire plant is being built

The Algerian company Société El Hadj Larbi Industrie (SHLI) in conjunction with the Chinese Doublestar is building a new tire plant in the "El Hamoul" industrial zone in the municipality of Tafraoui (Oran province), which is considered one of the largest industrial projects currently being implemented in the African country.

The volume of planned investments amounts to 300 million euros, and it was previously reported that Doublestar will invest 5 million euros in the project and also provide its Industry 4.0 standard technologies, which will allow for a high level of automation and production efficiency, reduce costs, and guarantee product quality. The construction is planned to be completed by the end of 2026.

The plant will create more than 2,000 direct jobs, and the project's production capacity is 6 million passenger and 1 million truck tires. In the future, SHLI intends to implement a number of similar projects in the country and increase the total production of products to 22 million tires per year, which will allow satisfying a significant share of demand in the region.

In Algeria, the Iris Tyres tire plant is already operating, which was opened in 2019 and is capable of producing 2 million passenger and light truck tires per year. In 2023, it was reported that the production of tires for freight transport would also be launched at the enterprise.
