"Intelligent" system Continental

21 november 2012
Continental is releasing a new system designed to monitor tire pressure levels. The innovative aspect of this development lies in the fact that pressure monitoring will now be carried out via a smartphone.

The principle is as follows: the new pressure control system features sensors that report the pressure inside the tires to the car owner's phone. In the event of a sudden loss of pressure, the system automatically sends a warning message to its owner.
To this end, Continental has developed a special smartphone app. Currently, the Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) is required for this "smart" system to work, but starting next year, the company plans to produce tires with pressure sensors already embedded under the tread, which will collect data. The developers are confident that this technology will mark the beginning of the era of intelligent tires.
