TyreSafe is partnering with the National Motorcyclists Council to promote safe and environmentally friendly bicycles

TyreSafe and the National Motorcyclists Council (NMC) have formed a new partnership to promote safe and sustainable motorcycling.

Mutual support between the organisations focuses on the need for greater attention to vehicle maintenance and reducing avoidable defects, as the failure rate for motorcycles in MOT tests is surprisingly comparable to that of cars: according to the DVSA, one in three motorcycles fail their first MOT test.

Of all the defects leading to initial MOT test failure, the largest proportion classified as ‘dangerous’ relate to tyres – 29 per cent.
