Toyo developed tires for 4-axle trucks
Toyo Tire has introduced in Japan a new all-season truck tire Toyo M630, specifically designed for low-profile trucks with two steerable axles in front and two driving axles in the rear.
In Toyo, they note that due to the restriction of overtime hours for truck drivers in Japan and the worsening shortage of labor in the transportation industry, carriers have faced the task of maximizing the efficiency of equipment operation. As a result, 4-axle tractors with increased payload capacity have begun to be used more widely, but the characteristics of their design lead to the fact that the tires on the second front axle are subjected to high lateral loads, which can lead to uneven wear of the shoulder areas and reduce the life of the tires, and the new model was specifically designed to solve this problem.
The Toyo M630 has a new tread pattern with an increased width and large shoulder blocks, which reduces the deformability of the tread, and the company notes that the wear of the shoulders has been reduced by 61% compared to the tires of the previous generation (Toyo M646) and has become more even. In addition, the size of the blocks in the central zone, where loads are usually concentrated, has been reduced, and they are also located more densely, which allows the pressure to be distributed more evenly and increases the life of the tread. The rigidity of the blocks has been optimized using the e-balance technology, while the stabilization of the contact patch has reduced rolling resistance, improving fuel efficiency, the company adds.
The novelty was developed in cooperation with Fuji Transport, which carries out transportation between major cities, and the logo of SenoPro Trucks, a department that deals with the development and sale of trucks to individual orders, is placed on the sidewall of the tires.
"Using specialized knowledge accumulated over many years of work, we will continue to pay great attention to the development of tires for trucks and buses to solve customer problems and meet the needs of society," — emphasized in Toyo.
The Toyo M630 will enter the Japanese market in January 2026 and will be available in the 245/70 R19.5 size 245/70 R19.5.
