Toyo Tire has announced that starting from December 2024, the off-road tire Toyo Open Country A/T III will be available on the Japanese market in an additional size for 16-inch wheels.

Open Country is the company's core brand in the market for SUV and pickup truck tires, and currently, models from this line are supplied to teams participating in such competitions as the Dakar Rally and the Baja 1000, which are considered the most challenging off-road races in the world. The knowledge gained during the races is later used in the development of new products, and Toyo says that due to their improved characteristics and aggressive design, the tires are very popular in North America, the birthplace of large SUVs.

The Open Country A/T III was introduced to the North American market in 2020 as a versatile tire capable of performing efficiently in any weather and road conditions. In 2022, the model was refined and released on the Japanese market, where it "received high praise from numerous customers." Now, in response to customer needs, the tire will be available in a new size 225/95 R16C, designed for classic SUVs such as the Land Cruiser 40 and 70.

The tires have a tread pattern with large blocks designed to provide both good stability and comfort on asphalt and high off-road capability, for example, on forest roads and camping areas. Additionally, the snowflake marking indicates that the tires can operate on snow, and in 2023, on the Japanese market, the tires became available in a version with white lettering.

In 2022, the Open Country A/T III received the Good Design award, and in 2023, it was also awarded a prize by the Japanese edition of Nikkan Jidosha Shimbun.
