On March 19, Toyo Tire held a ceremony to mark the official start of construction of a research center in Inđija (Serbia), where the Japanese company's plant is also located.

The event was attended by Toyo's Executive Director Satoru Moriya, a representative of the Japanese Embassy Atsushi Saito, and the President of Serbia Aleksandar Vučić, who noted that "the creation of a new scientific and technical center, which will be invested with 29 million euros, fully confirms that Serbia has the human potential, infrastructure, and ambitions necessary for the highest level of technological development".

The President added that in Inđija, the tire manufacturer will also build an 8.4 MW solar power plant, "adhering to the same global standards of sustainable development that the company applies worldwide".

"In 2019, Toyo Tire came to Inđija and built its first European plant here, and it is here that product development for Europe will be carried out. We are starting this project to create a common future, in which Serbia and Japan build relations with respect for traditions", said Vučić.

Currently, 638 people work at the Toyo plant in Serbia, and the total investment amount is almost 383 million euros, while the company's operating revenue in 2024 exceeded 165 million euros. The plant was launched in 2022, and its capacity is around 5 million passenger car tires per year.
