Tercelo supported the world's first electric car drift competition

Tercelo Tire Group has become the sole supplier of tires for the E-Drifting Challenge championship, which is considered the world's first professional electric vehicle drifting competition. The event was organized by the China Automobile and Motorcycle Sports Federation (CAMF), and the first stage took place from April 30 to May 2 in Haikou (Hainan, China). 

For the championship, Tercelo Tamir EV01 tires are being supplied, specifically designed for electric vehicles, and the company says that drifting imposes much higher requirements on tire traction and durability compared to everyday life. The chosen model features a tread pattern with wide central ribs and large shoulder blocks, designed to provide optimal stability and prevent uneven wear. 

The tires also have an enhanced construction, intended to provide reliable contact with the asphalt at high temperatures and severe tread wear, and the tread pattern has been optimized to increase the contact area, helping the tires handle emergency maneuvers. 

Previously, the Tercelo Tamir EV01 had confirmed a high level of energy efficiency in TÜV Rheinland tests and had also received the ApexTire2024 award as the best new energy-saving tire, which, according to the manufacturer, speaks to the high international competitiveness of Chinese tire brands.  

Tercelo adds that the new series was created, in part, to evaluate the characteristics of electric vehicles and their components under extreme conditions, as well as to promote the implementation of China's national "green" development strategy, while the participants included some of the country's best drifters.
