Tekniikan Maailma conducted a series of tests on tire products and announced the winner
Around fifteen different tires (from premium to budget) were involved in the tire test conducted annually by the publication "Tekniikan Maailma". The test specimens used were 16-inch and marked 205/55 R 16. They were alternately installed on a VW Golf. The results were evaluated by specialists from Test World in Ivalo, Finland.
During the tests, the results were considered on both dry and wet tracks. According to the results, the Continental ContiPremiumContact 5 tires were the undisputed winners, scoring 9.5 out of 10 possible points and receiving a "5-star" rating. The tires lost points only due to problems with rolling resistance, which was discovered during practical tests. However, on dry pavement, they provided perfect traction and were flawless in any road situation.
The Nokian Hakka Blue and Pirelli Cintuarto P7 Blue tires took second place, each scoring 9.3 points. The first product is noted for being a quiet tire with excellent weather characteristics and low rolling resistance. However, on dry pavement, the tires demonstrated average traction with the road surface. As for Pirelli's products, they provided good traction on dry roads.
In general, such a test result was not too difficult to predict. But, strangely enough, unexpected results were obtained during the test of budget options. So, considering the test results of the Landsail LS588 UHP tire, which previously took first place in the ADAC summer tire test, it turned out that the braking on wet and dry roads was good, which, however, cannot be said about aquaplaning.
As a result, the Chinese tires scored 8.3 points and a "4-star" rating. But at the same time, they surpassed the branded product of Michelin - the Michelin Primacy 3 tire, which received "3 stars" and only 8.2 points. So, Chinese tires should not be underestimated.
