Tire Technology Against Potholes

Tire Technology Against Potholes

We continue the topic of "spring roads". Tire manufacturers understand the challenges that tires face on the roads with the arrival of spring. In addition to borrowing technologies from related product lines, passenger tires must have their own unique technologies, since a passenger tire cannot be equipped with five frames for strength, the weight and comfort of daily driving would suffer greatly. Therefore, manufacturers begin to come up with unique technologies that really work.

A good example is the technology from the company Nokian. In SUV segment tires for crossovers and off-road vehicles, they apply the "Aramid Sidewalls" technology. Instead of adding another layer of frame, they add aramid fibers to the sidewall in addition to the standard double frame. There are many doubts on the internet about the real effectiveness, as it is not entirely clear how individual fibers, rather than a layer of aramid, can affect the strength of the tire. Nevertheless, the fibers in the composition are real and, according to test results.

Note that the effectiveness of using aramid fibers has shown its effectiveness in the company's internal research, and therefore, in the "Nokian Outpost AT" off-road tire, a similar technology "Aramid Shield" (Aramid Shield) was applied, where aramid fibers are not only in the sidewalls but also in the under-protector layer.
