PAO "Tatneft" and the Kazan hockey club "Ak Bars" presented the first ice hockey puck in Russia made from recycled tires, according to the oil company. It is noted that the tires were collected by customers of the Tatneft gas station network, and the first "green" puck in the country was manufactured at the company's facilities.

The testing of the pucks will take place during the training sessions of the children's teams of the "Tatneft" system, and in the future, it is planned to replace the classic pucks used in the "Ak Bars" Hockey Academy matches with them.

It is reported that this is another project implemented by "Tatneft" as part of its environmental activities, and its implementation became part of the preparation for the "Evergreen Derby" - the principal confrontation between "Ak Bars" and "Salavat Yulaev" from Ufa.

Old tires are collected at Tatneft gas stations throughout the country. From them, recycled crumb is obtained, which is sent to a pyrolysis unit, after which pyrolysis condensate is used at the Tatneft oil refining complex "TANECO" to produce isobutane, which is a raw material for the production of isoprene rubber and, subsequently, new tires. Rubber crumb is also used to manufacture materials for the improvement of sports and children's playgrounds.

In December 2023, the Bobruisk "Belshina" launched serial production of ice hockey pucks.
