Tire squeal. This is dangerous!
High speed is often associated with the roar of engines and screeching or, more accurately, squealing tires. If engines are more or less understandable, what about tires? Is tire squealing a sign of sporty tires?
This is a misconception. A tire should always be in contact with the road. At the same time, sport-grade tires become so pliable when heated that they literally absorb all the stones on the road into the tread. This is done for a more dense and stable contact patch. Any extraneous noise in the form of squealing means that the tire manages to lose traction and spin in the contact patch. It doesn't matter if you're starting or driving, pay attention to the extraneous noises made by your tires. If, seemingly, at low speeds, the tires start to "squeal", think about replacing them.
In other words, tire squealing is always a loss of traction. If you hear squealing when entering a turn at a standard speed, change your tires.
