Sumitomo Rubber Industries collaborates with Avery Dennison

The motorsport department of Sumitomo Rubber Industries has chosen the AD Maxdura label from Avery Dennison for use by teams competing in endurance racing on Falken tires. The teams will gain new data to help them prepare and improve their racing results. 

A unique RFID transponder embedded in each tire enables automatic data reading and use for accurate identification of tires in use from the pit lane to the track. To further enhance control as well as inventory and performance management, the Avery Dennison Maxdura Tire Tag label allows teams to optimize inventory and logistics in real time.

In addition, providing a unique identifier for each tire is intended to "improve post-race reuse and recycling processes to make competitions more environmentally friendly".
