The average cost of tires in Russia has increased by almost a quarter
In September-October 2024, the average check for automotive tires in Russia increased by 23% compared to the same period last year, according to Izvestia, citing data from analysts at Kontur.Market, who studied 4.5 million checks issued in auto stores and workshops.
It is noted that on average, a tire cost 6766 rubles, and tire fitting - 2129 rubles, which is also 23% more than a year earlier. In general, the cost of auto goods increased by 12%, to 1772 rubles.
Analysts also report that over the year, demand for lock de-icers and windshield scrapers decreased the most (-20 and 21% respectively), which may be due to the growing popularity of cars with auto-start and keyless access options.
Demand for tire fitting also decreased (-32%), and here the reason was weather conditions, as in 2024, the first frosts in some regions occurred already in October.
According to Daria Zhigalina, an analyst at Kontur.Market, demand for auto goods decreased by 14% compared to last year, but prices increased in all studied categories. "If the increase in tire fitting prices is due to the change of season, then tires have become significantly more expensive due to logistics problems, inflation, and increased consumer demand due to the departure of foreign brands from the market," she added.
