Solvay will produce circular silica in Asia using sand waste by 2026
Solvay has transitioned the production of high-dispersion silica (HDS) in Asia to circular raw materials. From 2026, the company's plants in Qingdao (China) and Gunsan (South Korea) will start using ISCC+-certified waste sand. Solvay claims that this transition will enable more than half of the company's regional HDS capacity to become circular.
By replacing primary raw materials with industrial waste, Solvay is developing technologies to reduce resource consumption. The company offers tire manufacturers circular silica Zeosil, which does not require reformulation.
