SNC Tire will open a plant in Cambodia

Chinese company Shandong New Continent Tire, which produces tires under the brands Comforser and Roadcruza, intends to invest around $450 million in the construction of a plant in the Cambodian province of Kratie, creating 3,000 new jobs, according to the Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC).

The CDC report states that the plant will be located in the UBE Snuol special economic zone, becoming the third tire enterprise in the province and the eighth in the country. The same SEZ already hosts factories of Chinese Doublestar and Firemax, which means that a cluster of the tire industry has begun to form.

In recent years, Cambodia has seen rapid development of the tire industry, related to the arrival of Chinese investors who want to avoid paying additional duties imposed on tires from China in various regions of the world. In 2025, the country exported tires worth $1.38 billion, which is 57.86% more than a year earlier, and the positive trend continues, with the industry concentrated in the provinces of Svay Rieng, Sihanoukville, and Kratie.

Chinese investments are also contributing to the development of Cambodia's rubber industry, and according to the local Ministry of Agriculture, last year's revenues in this sector amounted to $225 million. The area of plantations in the country reaches 448,000 hectares, and the CDC notes that Cambodia is moving from exporting rubber to its deep processing.

In 2025, it was reported that SNC Tire plans to build a plant in Malaysia, and it is unclear whether both projects will be implemented.
