Self-pumping system — invention of the year

21 november 2012
This year, Goodyear introduced a unique tire inflation system. According to three magazine versions, this innovation is worthy of being considered the best invention of the year. Car & Driver and Popular Mechenic were the first to express this opinion, and now Time has shared their point of view.
Let's recall that Goodyear's unique development is called Air Maintenance Technology (AMT). Its role is to maintain the optimal pressure level inside the tire, thereby helping to save fuel.

The "smart" tires equipped with this technology "understand" when the tire needs to be inflated and perform this action with the help of an internal pressure regulator, which, when opened, allows air to enter the tube, from which it enters the tire under pressure. At the same time, the driver does not even suspect that something happened without his knowledge during the trip.

The company's technical director, Jean-Claude Kihn, stated that this is a real technological breakthrough that everyone will appreciate. And he turned out to be right.
