Winrun tyres banned in the EU
After receiving warnings from Finland and Estonia, the European Union authorities banned the sale of Chinese tires Winrun due to the high concentration of toxic materials.
Earlier, the Finnish Safety and Chemicals Agency (Tukes) conducted an inspection, which revealed that the summer passenger tire Winrun R330 of size 205/55 R16, manufactured at the Wanli plant in Guangzhou in October 2022, has too high a content of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), which are considered carcinogenic.
According to a recent decision by the European Commission, the tires must be withdrawn from sale as they do not meet the requirements of the REACH standard, which regulates the circulation of chemicals in the EU.
This year, the Winrun R330 tires participated in a test by the German magazine Auto Bild Sportscars and received a rating of "Not recommended" due to weak grip on wet roads, poor handling, and dangerously increased braking distance.
The Winrun brand belongs to the Chinese company Guangzhou Winrun Tyre, which is based in Guangzhou (Guangdong, China) and offers tires for passenger cars and SUVs.
