Hankook tires are approved for the updated Tesla Model Y
Hankook Tire will supply summer UHP tires Ventus S1 evo3 ev and all-season iON evo AS SUV for the original equipment of the updated Tesla Model Y crossover, which last year became the best-selling car in its class in the global market, and in the restyled version is still in high demand in key regions such as North America, Europe, and China.
Ventus S1 evo3 ev is a version of the Ventus S1 evo3 model, modified with regard to the characteristics of electric vehicles and having a reinforced two-layer carcass structure, which, in combination with a high-strength sidewall zone and the use of aramid fibers, allows the tires to withstand increased loads when used on powerful and heavy vehicles, as well as provide stable handling at high speeds. In addition, the design of one of the central ribs, resembling interlocking teeth, reduces the risk of aquaplaning, and the overall tread pattern is optimized to increase safety in the rain, and the rubber compound, according to the company, has significantly reduced rolling resistance, which increases the range of electric vehicles.
In turn, the all-season iON evo AS SUV tires have been developed using the iON Innovation Technology platform, created specifically for the EV segment and designed to provide a balance between such parameters as reduced noise, high energy efficiency and durability, as well as improved driving qualities. The manufacturer claims that the optimized tread pattern significantly reduces noise levels, and the new rubber compound with eco-friendly materials improves traction in a wide range of conditions, including dry and wet asphalt, as well as snow.
