Hankook Tire will supply the electric crossover Ford Mustang Mach-E with 19-inch Hankook iON evo tires, which are part of the first full-fledged line of tires developed specifically for electric vehicles, the tire company's press service reported.

Hankook iON evo tires are produced using the iON Innovative Technology package, which improves four key parameters for EV tires - reduces noise level, increases traction and durability, and reduces rolling resistance. In addition, the tire design has been reinforced with aramid fibers, which has increased their lateral stiffness, thereby improving lateral stability, including when driving at high speeds, while longitudinal and transverse channels with optimized design accelerate water drainage, and a special rubber compound has increased grip and reduced braking distance on wet roads.

The manufacturer adds that iON evo tires can reduce in-cab noise by 18% and increase energy consumption efficiency by 6%, while the rubber compound with a high concentration of silicon dioxide and environmentally friendly materials, combined with an optimized profile, extends the tire life by 15%.

Hankook has been collaborating with Ford since 1999, and during this time, the company's tires have been approved for many key models of the American brand, such as Mustang, Explorer, Ranger, F-150, Focus and Mondeo. In 2023, the Hankook plant in Tennessee (USA) received the Q1 Award from Ford, which is awarded to suppliers who meet the automaker's strict requirements for quality control systems and technology innovation. Over the past few years, this award has been received by all eight Hankook plants in different countries.
