Dunlop tires for new Toyota and Honda

Summer tires Dunlop SP Sport Maxx 060, already being supplied in large quantities to automakers in China, have been homologated for several more models, such as the Toyota Camry and Honda e:NP2 (produced at the joint ventures of Toyota and Honda with the local GAC), as well as the Honda e:NS2 (produced at the Honda and Dongfeng joint venture).

The rights to the Dunlop brand in China are owned by the Japanese Sumitomo, which noted that the SP Sport Maxx 060 tires are a universal option for luxury passenger cars and SUVs, and the rubber compound has been modified with a new polymer and high-dispersion silica, which reduce heat generation and, consequently, rolling resistance, while also increasing grip on wet roads. The manufacturer also continues to optimize the tire design and pattern, and, for example, the smooth surface of the ribs reduces air resistance.

"Cooperation with GAC Toyota, GAC Honda, and Dongfeng Honda speaks not only to the innovation and high technology of Dunlop tires but also to the company's ability to effectively meet the needs of automakers and offer a diversified product line for their models," Sumitomo says, adding that the SP Sport Maxx 060 tires are well-suited for use on electric and hybrid vehicles due to their low rolling resistance, which helps increase energy efficiency.

The Toyota Camry will be available in China, including with a hybrid powertrain, and the Honda e:NP2 and e:NS2 are electric compact crossovers. The tire company emphasizes that it will continue to contribute to the development of the new energy vehicle segment in the Chinese market.
