Continental tires are homologated for the new Renault Clio

The compact hatchback Renault Clio of the sixth generation will be equipped with Continental EcoContact 7 tires in sizes 195/60 R16 and 205/45 R18 in global markets, which have received the highest ratings for fuel efficiency and noise level under the European labeling system.

High energy efficiency is ensured by the special composition of the rubber mixture and the Smart Energy Casing technology — during the production of the carcass, inner liner, and sidewalls, materials that reduce internal friction and rolling resistance are used. Additionally, fuel efficiency is improved due to the aerodynamic design of the sidewalls, where dimples, similar to those on golf balls, are placed to reduce air resistance. This solution reduces air turbulence behind the tire and decreases energy consumption.

To enhance acoustic comfort, a tread pattern called Silent Pattern was developed. The designers optimized the distance between the blocks and the angles of the grooves, which made it possible to reduce noise in the frequencies that usually occur when driving at low speeds in city traffic. As a result, the ride becomes more comfortable, and noise pollution in cities is reduced.

The tires for the Clio have an increased load-carrying capacity (marked XL), are equipped with rim protection (FR), and are suitable for use at speeds up to 210 km/h (index H).
