Japanese Sumitomo Rubber Industries will acquire the rights to the tire brand Pneumant, which was created in the GDR in 1959, and after the reunification of Germany became the property of Goodyear Dunlop. From 1959 to 2012, about 100 million Pneumant tires were produced, but then the manufacturer stopped their production due to low sales, and in 2015, the German trading company Reiff announced the return of the brand to the market.

The brand relaunch with a new owner is scheduled for 2027, and it will belong to the budget segment, where it will replace the Sumitomo brand. In the manufacturer's lineup, Pneumant will join the Falken and Dunlop brands, which will belong to the medium and premium classes, respectively.

In May 2025, Sumitomo purchased the rights to the Dunlop brand in several regions from Goodyear, and now in the tire segment for 4-wheeled vehicles, the brand belongs to the Japanese worldwide, except in India.
