Schwalbe has sent a million tires for recycling

The German company Schwalbe, a leading manufacturer of bicycle tires and tubes, has collected and recycled one million tires, from which, in accordance with the closed-loop approach, recovered carbon black (rCB) was obtained, which is used as raw material in the production of new products.

Schwalbe launched the old tire collection program in cooperation with the Technical University of Cologne and Pyrum Innovations, a company that recycles tires at its plant in Saar (Germany).

Tire collection is carried out with the participation of more than 1800 specialized dealers across the country, who accept them from customers, and rCB is already being used in the production of 70% of Schwalbe models, which, according to the company, reduces harmful emissions by 80% in CO2 equivalent compared to the use of traditional carbon black.

"End users cannot notice that recovered carbon black is being used, as its use does not affect either the design or the characteristics of the tires, and the price also remains the same," noted Schwalbe.
