Self-vulcanization of tires
Today, we'll talk about self-studding tires with spikes that have a rubber base, which allows them to be literally screwed into the tread.
This type of studding is not very effective for passenger car tires. The thing is that all winter tires for passenger cars are equipped with lamellas, small cuts in the tread blocks to remove a thin layer of water from the contact patch. And studded tires have special platforms of solid rubber without lamellas for reliable fixation of studs in the intended hole.
In case the tire has lost some studs, installing threaded anti-skid studs in the place where the stud was previously located is impossible, because the solid rubber layer in this area is damaged. Such installation is also meaningless in the area of lamellas, as the stud simply has nothing to securely anchor to.
Studs of this type are effective when installed on special equipment and truck tires, but they are not very effective on passenger car tires.
