Sailun will build a plant in Egypt

Chinese Sailun is carrying out an almost unstoppable expansion on the global market, and in early summer, new tire plants of the company were opened in Indonesia and Mexico almost simultaneously, and on August 13, it was announced that production would be localized in Egypt with an investment volume of $1 billion.

The plant will be built as part of the project of the industrial developer TEDA Egypt in the integrated "Sokhna" zone, which is part of the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZone), and the partnership agreement between the parties was signed in the New Administrative Capital of Egypt in the presence of the country's Prime Minister, Mostafa Madbouli.

The three-year project will be implemented in several stages, at the first of which the plant will be able to produce 3 million passenger and 600,000 truck tires. The first stage is planned to be launched next year, and in the future, the plant's capacity is expected to exceed 10 million tires per year. The products will be offered on the Egyptian market, as well as supplied to other countries.

Madbouli noted that "Egypt is successfully implementing an ambitious strategy for localizing the automotive industry and related production chains," and highly appreciated the efforts of SCZone to attract investments in this area. He also added that "it is necessary to continue cooperation between the public and private sectors to ensure Egypt's regional leadership in the automotive industry in record time."
