On January 18, the Chinese Sailun held a grand opening ceremony for its new tire factory in Demak (Central Java, Indonesia).
The plant is managed by PT Sailun Manufacturing Indonesia, with initial production capacities of 3.6 million passenger, 600,000 truck, and 37,000 tons of specialty tires per year. Construction began in October 2024, with investments totaling around $250 million.
"With the commissioning of the production facility in Indonesia, we are creating a complete ecosystem of products and services in the country," said Eko Supriyatin, Sales and Marketing Director of Sailun's local branch, adding that the company aims to make a significant contribution to the development of Indonesia's tire industry, create new jobs, and increase the country's competitiveness in the global automotive industry.
Sailun also produces tires in China, Cambodia, and Mexico, and a new plant is currently under construction in Egypt.
