The Romanian Nokian plant has achieved its production targets
On December 20, the Nokian Tyres plant in Oradea (Romania) produced its millionth tire for 2025, meeting the production plans set out in the schedule. The anniversary tire was the European-style winter tire Nokian Snowproof 2, the Finnish company reported.
The Oradea plant is considered the world's first full-scale tire production facility with zero CO2 emissions, and all the energy consumed is generated without the use of fossil fuels. It is expected that by the end of 2027, the plant will become Nokian's largest production site, accounting for around 40% of the company's total capacity.
The project in Romania was launched by Nokian after the company's withdrawal from Russia, where 80% of its passenger car tires were produced. Now, the plant in Vsevolozhsk belongs to "Tatneft" and has been renamed Ikon Tyres.
"I am proud of our entire team, which has done a great job, thanks to which we were able to reach new production volumes," said Paolo Pompei, President and CEO of Nokian. "This is further confirmation of our commitment to meeting the needs of our customers across Europe, improving the level of service, and delivering innovative products that provide drivers with optimal safety and comfort in all conditions."

The Oradea plant was opened in September 2024, with the first shipments starting in March 2025. The product range primarily includes tires for passenger cars intended for the European market. Nokian also owns facilities in Nokia (Finland) and Dayton (USA). The Romanian plant employs over 500 people.
In 2025, Nokian released two new products to the European market: the all-season Nokian Seasonproof 2 and the summer Nokian Powerproof 2, and the company says it will continue to introduce new products, the production of which will be carried out in Romania.
