Russian tire manufacturers are reducing sales
In the first quarter of 2026, the volumes of the Russian passenger tire market remained roughly at the level of the same period in 2025, with a possible decrease of 2%, reports "Kommersant" based on a survey of major manufacturers.
According to the publication's source, sales of Russian plants decreased by 20%, but the growth in imports replaced this volume. The main suppliers of passenger tires to the country are China with a 70% share and South Korea. According to the information of the General Administration of Customs of China, in January-March, 6.44 million passenger tires were supplied to the Russian Federation, which is 53% more year-on-year, and the cost of imports increased by 27% to $154.28 million.
Russian tire manufacturers did not disclose their sales data, and Cordiant noted that the implementation of products to distributors was "at the level of planned values" with a deviation from last year's figures of less than 10%, and Ikon Tyres reported that demand for tires of all company brands had decreased - premium Ikon and budget Attar and Bars.
According to Rosstat data, the production of passenger tires at Russian plants in the first quarter of the year fell by 20.2%, while the production of tires for trucks, buses, and trolleybuses decreased by 17.5%.
Earlier, tire companies from Russia and Belarus initiated a special protective investigation in the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) regarding the import of passenger and light truck tires into the EAEU.
